Trekking Tambora is more than reaching the summit. Along the journey, you’ll pass through lush tropical forests, open savannas, coffee plantations, and remote traditional villages. The highlight is the gigantic caldera, stretching approximately 7 km wide, creating an unforgettable view from the summit.

TAMBORA TREKKING 5 DAYS 4 NIGHTS – ITINERARY & COST

DAY 1 – Arrival in Bima

Pick-up at Bima Airport, then drive approximately 5 hours to Kedindi Guest House in Pekat – Dompu.
Overnight at Kedindi Guest House.

DAY 2 – Kedindi – Pancasila – Jungle Gate – Pos 1 – Pos 2 – Pos 3

Breakfast will be served at a local warung near the guest house.
Drive 15 minutes to Pancasila Base Camp, then continue another 30 minutes by motorbike to the Jungle Gate.

Start trekking:

Walk 2 hours to Pos 1 (rest stop)
Continue 1.5 hours to Pos 2 (coffee & tea break)
Trek another 2 hours to Pos 3

Overnight in tent at Pos 3.

DAY 3 – Summit Day – Return to Pancasila

Wake up at 00:00 for summit preparation. Start trekking at 01:00 AM local time.

Trekking takes approximately 6 hours to reach the crater before sunrise
Enjoy the sunrise and crater view
Descend back to Pos 3 for lunch
Continue down to Pos 2 (2 hours)
Proceed to Pos 1 (another 2 hours)
Rest, then walk 2 more hours to the Jungle Gate

Motorbikes will take you back to Pancasila Base Camp (30 minutes).
Overnight at Pancasila Base Camp.

DAY 4 – Pancasila – Lakey Beach

After breakfast, leave Pancasila Base Camp and drive to Lakey Beach.
Enjoy a relaxing day on the stunning beach or watch professional surfers ride the famous Lakey waves.

Lunch and dinner are at personal expense.
